Emergency Data Sharing

Last updated: May 1, 2026

We want to make sure that you have access to tools that help you stay safe when you use our service. To help you get the help you need in an emergency situation, you may be able to call police (or in some locations, private security) through the BaraBara App and, where available, we will share your location and other trip details with the call taker.

What Information We Share

Trip details that we will share are:

  • Your estimated current location
  • The car's make, model, color, and license plate
  • Your name and phone number
  • Your pickup and drop off locations
  • Your driver's name

It is up to you whether you want to share your location and other trip details information with the call taker. You can turn location and information sharing off by accessing the Emergency Data Sharing page in your Privacy Settings.

Location Accuracy

The location that we will share with the call taker is your latitude and longitude, as determined by your device's operating system. Your device's location information may not be fully accurate, particularly in dense urban environments.

How It Works

When you choose to share your location and trip data with police, we will pass along your location and trip information to Rapid SOS, which provides a technology platform that enables location and data sharing from connected devices to police.

Rapid SOS's emergency platform is only integrated with police call centers in some of the areas where we operate. If we are able to share your trip details with police, you will see this noted in the BaraBara App before you place your call.

In some cases, your local call center and Rapid SOS may only be able to process some, but not all, of your location and trip details. For example, a call taker may have access to your estimated current location but may not be able to see your pickup and drop off locations.

Data Retention

In order to protect you, BaraBara will retain your location and trip information as well as information about the times when you use our app to call police or private security.

BaraBara may keep this information as long as permitted by law and consistent with our privacy notice, and following that the information will be deleted.

Similarly, Rapid SOS may keep the information it receives as long as permitted by law and consistent with its privacy policy.

Privacy Protection

BaraBara and Rapid SOS will never record or listen to your 911 calls or make a transcript of your calls.

Third-Party Vendors

On a limited basis, BaraBara may use a different vendor to provide similar services. Through contractual and other mechanisms, such vendors are required to adhere to best practices for processing user data.

Your Control Over Data Sharing

You have control over your data sharing preferences:

  • You can turn location and information sharing off at any time
  • Access the Emergency Data Sharing page in your Privacy Settings
  • You decide whether to share your location and trip details with the call taker

Your safety is our priority. The Emergency Data Sharing feature is designed to help you get the assistance you need quickly and efficiently when it matters most.

Effective Date: May 1, 2026

For more information about how we protect your data, please review our Privacy Policy.
